What's that mom? The Peanut Butter and Jelly Frozen Dog Treat!

This was stupid easy and had several healthy components that make it easy to reward your furry pal! Quinoa has some decent organic protein that is highly digestible for dogs as well as organic peanut butter. Blended Blueberries and blackberries make the "jelly" and coconut oil binds this concoction together.

Cook the quinoa as per your package instructions... usually this looks like 2 cups of quinoa to 4 cups of water and a touch of oil. Boil until cooked and the water is absorbed. Once done....

Heat up 1 cup of Peanut butter and 1 cup of coconut oil separately in the microwave and then mix both into the cooked quinoa and stir to incorporate well.

Take your berry mix, approximately 1/2 cup each and blend well in a food processor until a mash... add this to the quinoa peanut butter mix. This should still be watery enough to pour out into moulds.

This made these two decorative moulds and 2 additional ice cube trays... I only have so many fancy moulds in the house and Finnegan doesn't care! Pop these in the freezer to set.

Once frozen, remove from moulds and then store in whatever freezer worthy container you see fit... they do look and smell delicious almost good enough to want to eat them... That said you can eat them, …. my kids tried and said "not bad but not very sweet." Finnegan, however is all over them! Give them a try!!

The Recipe:

2 cups of quinoa cooked with 4 cups of water and a splash of oil. Cook on the stove until done.

Melt in the microwave, 1 cup of peanut butter and 1 cup of coconut oil and mix with the already cooked quinoa.

Blend 1 cup of berries of your choice... I used half blackberries, half blueberries (both dog safe please check what you choose) blend well in a food processor, then incorporate in the quinoa peanut butter mix.

Pour into moulds or ice cube trays and freeze. Pull out and store in a different container once formed.
